Behind the Scenes at a Press Check
Last month we wrapped up our biggest print project to date: The Toolkit by Spicers. The custom binder features over 40 curated papers, multiple die-cuts, blind embossing, foil stamping, fluorescent ink, coloured stocks, CMYK and Pantone printing… the list is endless! We spent 5 days with the Spicers team at Hemlock Printers in Burnaby, BC, learning about the fine art of printing on what was (by far) the most in depth press check we’ve ever seen.
Many thanks to the incredibly patient press team at Hemlock, who were always kind and never rolled their eyes (even when we said the yellow was still too yellow).
This is truly a monumental guide to all things paper, specification, print production, finishing, and material exploration.
