During the pandemic, a lot of people made bread. But roommates Mel and Chey put their energy into a different kind of comfort food: pierogies. Having both lost their jobs in the restaurant industry as a result of Covid, they started to spend more time in their own kitchen which led to the pursuit of perfecting Mel’s grandmother’s traditional Ukrainian recipe. Named after the intersection of the apartment where they created their first batch, eleventh + main was born. We wanted the branding to feel as warm and inviting as Mel’s grandma’s kitchen, so we used soft colourways and handcrafted elements throughout. Paired with clean and modern typography and an “E” inspired by a pierogi, the brand perfectly embodied its tagline: Made from scratch. Stuffed with love.
